Softball tops Freedom to stay undefeated
3/8/2019 12:12:00 AM

Raychel Trocki struck out ten batters while allowing no earned runs for the seventh straight game as Softball whipped Freedom, 8-2, to run their record to 7-0. DP struck for three runs in both the first and second innings to take a commanding 6-0 lead. In the first, Ailey Schyck's sacrifice fly brought home Raychel Trocki for the game's first run, Gracie Lopez followed with an RBI triple that brought home Dejia Benn and Lopez came home on a passed ball for a 3-0 lead. In the second, Alexa Wexler led off with a double to center field and came home on a two-out double by Dejia Benn. With a 4-0 lead, Ailey Schyck drove a 1-0 pitch deep over the left field fence for a two-run home run, the first of her career, to push the lead to 6-0. DP would tack on two more runs in the fifth on an RBI base hit by Megan Rush and an RBI groundout by Jordan Hartman. DP's 38-inning scoreless streak did come to an end, unfortunately, as Freedom picked up a pair of unearned runs in the seventh. The Panthers will head over to Olympia (7-1) this afternoon for a 4:00 pm start.
