DP Softball is off to an 8-0 start (2019) with seven shutouts

Softball hammers Olympia

Undefeated Softball broke a scoreless tie with a pair of runs in the fourth and opened up the floodgates with four runs in the seventh as they knocked out host Olympia, 7-0, to improve to 8-0 on the season. DP has notched seven shutouts in their first eight games, outscoring their opposition, 79-2. Ailey Schyck opened up the fourth inning with a double off the left field fence and scored on a bunt single by Gracie Lopez. After a base hit by Kati Kelly, Megan Rush rapped a hard shot to third that was mishandled and allowed Lopez to come home for a 2-0 lead. DP picked up another run in the sixth when Gracie Lopez singled to left and scored on an RBI single by Aliyah Headen and in the visiting seventh, the Panthers put the game away with a four-spot. After Raychel Trocki led off with a walk and moved to second on a groundout, Olympia elected to intentionally walk Ailey Schyck. That plan backfired as Gracie Lopez doubled to center to bring home Trocki for a 4-0 lead and Kati Kelly followed with a two-run single to center to score Schyck and Lopez. DP added the final run when Aliyah Headen walked and scored on a wild pitch three batters later. DP will look to extend its winning streak Monday against Evans before hosting District rival Boone Tuesday night.
