Up in Gainesville, Women's Track and Field competed at the Pepsi Relays on the campus of the University of Florida and while they had just one top-ten finish, plenty of season-best performances were turned in by the Panthers, including all five relay teams. DP's 4 x 100m relay team placed eighth and set a season-best mark of 48.29, which is just .29 seconds off the school-record mark set in 2016. The most significant improvement of the event goes to the 4 x 800m relay team of Roxanne Deisseroth, Teaghan Connolly, Amber He and Jasmine Little as they dropped a whopping 12 seconds off their time to finish in a season-best 9:58.39, placing them 15th overall. DP's 4 x 200m relay team also had a solid showing with a ninth place finish in 1:41.90, while the 4 x 400m relay team dropped significant time with a season-best 4:02.26 to finish 19th. In the Distance Medley Relay, the Panthers came home in 13:14.42 to finish 14th. Individually, we had two season-best marks set with Shakaeja Dore in the 100m (12.51) and Jarvia Carr in the 100m as well (12.94). Rayanna Mathis (12.56), Ebone Fortilien (12.80) and Lourdes Safford (13.04) all competed in the 100m, while Gabrielle Matthews finished 16th overall in the long jump (14' 10") and Jasmine Little represented DP also in the 800m with a time of 2:29.62. We have officially entered championship season as the Panthers will get set for Saturday's Metro West Conference Championship at Windermere HS.
