Baseball throttles Freedom
4/5/2019 9:54:00 PM

Freedom jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning but DP Baseball responded with eight unanswered runs in an 8-2 victory over the visiting Patriots. WIth one out in the bottom of the first and trailing by two, Brandon Fields walked, stole second, and scored on a single by Will Sullivan to DP on the board. After a walk to Noah Sullivan and a wild pitch that scored Will Sullivan with the tying run, Daniel Castenada drove a sharp single left to drive in Noah Sullivan to put the Panthers up for good. In the third, Brandon Fields roped a 1-2 pitch over the fence in left field for a two-run home run to make it 5-2 and for good measure, the Panthers tacked on three more in their final two at-bats. Mitchell Stockwell shook off a rough opening inning and went three innings and struck out three while Casey Carns came on in relief in the fourth, scattered four hits, allowing no runs while fanning two. DP (11-4) has won three straight and will continue District play at Cypress Creek next Wednesday.

JV Baseball upped their record to 7-3 with an 8-1 victory over host Freedom. The Panthers did enough damage in the first inning with two runs but upped the ante with another three runs in the second to put the game out of reach. Luis Rodriguez went 3-4 with two doubles, two RBIs and scored twice, Aeden Anderson went 3-4 with an RBI and Leonel Carrasco finished 2-3 with two runs scored. On the mound, JJ Paulsen allowed just five hits and one run while striking out four to earn the complete game victory. DP has another date with Lake Brantley coming up Tuesday.
