4/7/2019 8:57:00 PM

Women's Track and Field earned ten podium finishes, including four in the hurdles, to take home second place in the ten-team Metro West Conference Championship. Armelle Oliantus headlined a dominant day for the DP hurdlers, winning the gold in the 100m hurdles in a season-best time of 16.15, which was just one one-hundredth of a second faster than her silver medalist teammate Gabrielle Matthews (16.16), while Imani Wiley took fourth in 16.56, both season-best times as well. DP saw three top-six finishes in the 300m hurdles as Gabrielle Matthews racked up her second silver in a season-best 47.92, followed by bronze medalist Irmiris Mendez (season-best 48.36) and Imani Wiley, sixth in 50.17. Freshman Jasmine Little crushed her season-best time in the 1600m with a silver medal-winning time of 5:35.08 with Teaghan Connolly placing fifth in 6:06.52. DP also gobbled up plenty of points in the 3200m as Shannon Matzner took the bronze (13:20.30), Roxanne Deisseroth placed fourth (13:32.80) and Sophie Cirineo claimed fifth (13:46.00). In the pole vault competition, DP saw three place in the five with Natalia Blake earning bronze with a season-best height of 8' 0.5" followed by Nowelia Blake in fourth (7' 6.5") and Adneiry Mercedes-Diaz fifth (7' 0.5"). Triple jump competition was also stacked with Panthers as Domanique Douglas' leap of 32' 11.25" was good for fifth while Naika Belizaire was right behind in fifth (32' 1") and Zanea Formey placed sixth with a season-best jump of 32' 00". DP also earned bronze medals in all three relay events as the 4 x 100m relay team of Shakaeja Dore, Lourdes Safford, Ebone Fortilien and Rayanna Mathis lowered their season-fastest time to 48.10, just one-tenth of a second off the school record. In the 4 x 400m, it was Jarvia Carr, Domanique Douglas, Rayanna Mathis and Zoe Alexander earning the bronze medal in a season-best 4:01.63, while the 4 x 800m relay team of Roxanne Deisseroth, Teaghan Connolly, Amber He and Jasmine Little claimed the bronze in 10:04.33. Plenty of top-eight finishers that earned valuable points including Zoe Alexander, who set season-best marks earning fifth in both the 400m (58.07) and the long jump (17' 2.25"), Rayanna Mathis, who tied her fastest time of the year with a sixth place finish in the 100m (12.30), Zamora St. Cyr in the shot put (sixth at 29' 9.50"), Amber He in the 800m (seventh in 2:31.44), Shakaeja Dore in the 100m (eighth in 12.54) and Laury Demorcy, who placed eighth in the high jump after tying her season-best mark of 4' 6". DP has a quick turnaround as they will compete at the District Championship Tuesday in Winter Park.
