Freshman Daniel Demontagnac had quite the debut in his first Metro West Championship with a gold and silver medal finish, leading Men's Track and Field to a third place finish in the ten-team Metro West Conference Championship Saturday in Windermere. Demontagnac's season-best leap of 44' 7.5" was good for gold in the triple jump while his 5' 9.75" showing in the high jump earned him the silver medal. Myles Wiley had a tremendous meet, winning the silver medal in the 400m in a season-best 50.28 and also anchored the silver medal-winning 4 x 400m relay with Jalen Thompson, Arron Edwards and Jacquez Jones (3:21.98). Plenty of points were earned in the pole vault as three Panthers placed among the top six. Oshny Leger took the silver medal with a vault of 11' 5.75", Jacob Collins had a season-high vault of 10' 11.75 inches that placed him fourth, and freshman Davy Bancy finished sixth at 9' 6.25". In the 3200m, Adam Berriz earned a bronze medal with a time of 10:37.96 with Jacob Matzner fifth (10:52.29) and Ilyas Semlali sixth (10:55.70). DP also earned another bronze medal with the 4 x 100m relay team of Andrew Campos, Nivon Holland, Jacquez Jones and Emmanuel Pierre cutting the laser in 42.46. Emmanuel Pierre (11.02) and Andrew Campos (11.22) were fifth and eighth, respectively, in the 100m. Rounding out the top-eight perfromances were Javarious Johnson in the high jump (sixth at 5' 7.75"), Arron Edwards in the 300m hurdles (sixth in 40.67) and Jalen Thompson, also in the 300m hurdles (eighth in 42.76). The Panthers will be back on the track Tuesday competing for the District Championship at Showalter Field.
