Men's Track and Field clinched the 2019 District Championship with a gold medal finish in the 4 x 400m relay with Jalen Thompson, Myles Wiley, Arron Edwards and Jacquez Jones

Men's Track and Field returned to the top of the podium yesterday as they captured the program's ninth District Championship and first since 2016. DP earned gold medals in four events but the team title wasn't official until the 4 x 400m relay team clinched it on the final event of the day. Jalen Thompson, Myles Wiley, Arron Edwards and Jacquez Jones struck gold in 3:25.45 to give the Panthers a full ten points (107 total), enough to hold off second place Boone (104) and third place Winter Park (103) in the final team standings. DP also took the gold medal in the 4 x 100m relay with Jacquez Jones, Andrew Campos, Emmanuel Pierre and Nivon Holland (42.57) while individual titles were earned by Emmanuel Pierre in the 200m (22.49) and Daniel Demontagnac in the triple jump (44' 0.5"). Credit Javarious Johnson with the silver medal in the high jump with a career-best 6' 0.75" while bronze medalists included Jacob Collins in pole vault (10' 11"), Arron Edwards in the 300m hurdles (40.48), Myles Wiley in the 400m (50.66) and Emmanuel Pierre in the 100m (10.95). Plenty of top eight finishers that scored valuable points including Josh Matzner in the 3200m (fourth, 10:17.79) and the 1600m (eighth, 4:51.45), Nivon Holland in the 100m (fifth, 11.16), Daniel Demontagnac in the long jump (fifth, 20' 6.5") and high jump (fifth, 5' 8.75"), Davy Bancy in the pole vault (fifth, 10' 5.25"), Oshny Leger in the pole vault (sixth, 10' 5.25"), Adam Berriz in the 3200m (sixth, 10:27.88), Shemar Williams in the shot put (seventh, 39' 1"), Andrew Campos in the 200m (seventh, 23.99), Jalen Thompson in the 300m hurdles (seventh, 42.17) and Ilyas Semlali in the 3200m (eighth, 10:39.85). The top four place-winners in each event have qualified for the Regional Championship meet set for April 27th at Showalter Field.
