Women's Track and Field won the 2019 District Championship by 33 points over second place Winter Park while Men's Track and Field won the title by three points over Boone

Women's Track runs away with District title

For the first time since 2015, Women's Track and Field captured the District Championship but they didn't just win, they dominated. DP won four events, finished on the podium in 11 events and outscored second-place Winter Park by 33 points, 170-137. No one runner had a better meet than sophomore Shakaeja Dore, who won gold medals in the 100m (12.23), 200m (25.69) and the 4 x 100m relay with Lourdes Safford, Rayanna Mathis and Ebone Fortilien. Joining Dore in the gold medal club was junior Domanique Douglas who captured the triple jump title with a leap of 35' 11.25" and also anchored the silver medal-winning 4 x 400m relay team for Zoe Alexander, Rayanna Mathis and Jarvia Carr with a time of 4:07.16. DP earned a bucket of silver medals with Zoe Alexander in the 400m (58.67), Gabrielle Matthews in the 300m hurdles (48.09) and the 200m (25.77), Ebone Fortilien in the long jump (17' 9.75") as well as the 4 x 800m relay team of Jasmine Little, Amber He, Teaghan Connolly and Roxanne Deisseroth (10:00.74). Your bronze medalists included Natalia Blake in the pole vault (7' 5.75"), Imani Wiley in the 300m hurdles (48.73), Rayanna Mathis in the 100m (12.33) and Gabrielle Matthews in the 100m hurdles (15.97). With the top four finishers advancing to the regional meet, Imani Wiley qualified in the 100m hurdles (16.32), Ebone Fortilien in the 100m (12.66), Irmiris Mendez in the 300m hurdles (48.90), Nowelia Blake in the pole vault (7' 5.75"), Zoe Alexander in the long jump (16' 8") and Zamora St. Cyr moves on in the shot put (31' 4.25"). Rounding out DP's top eight scoring finishes: Jasmine Little in the 800m (fifth, 2:23.05) and the 1600m (sixth, 5:40.19), Adneiry Mercedes-Diaz in the pole vault (sixth, 6' 6"), Naika Belizaire in the triple jump (sixth, 33' 3"), Domanique Douglas in the long jump (seventh, 15' 11") and the 400m (seventh, 1:05.23), Zanea Formey in the triple jump (seventh, 32' 6.25"), Shannon Matzner in the 3200m (seventh, 13:02.72), Roxanne Deisseroth in the 800m (2:30.25), Julia Ferreira in the pole vault (eighth, 6' 0"), Jayla Jones in the high jump (eighth, 4' 6"), and Amber He in the 800m (2:30.49). DP will have some time to prepare for the Regional Championship which takes place Saturday, April 27th, at Showalter Field in Winter Park.
