Sophomore Shiquila Bryant hauls in a big reception vs. Evans (2017)

Flag Football takes care of West Orange

Flag Football was able to get their varsity game in before the torrential rain hit last night and the Panthers picked up their fourth straight win with a 19-6 victory over host West Orange. Megan Lapeyrouse delivered the first punch of the game right out of the gate with a 75-yard touchdown run to give the Panthers a 6-0 lead. Later in the first, quarterback Ni'Kira Smith connected with Shiquila Bryant for a 35-yard touchdown pass to double the lead to 12-0 through halftime. Smith found her own way to the end zone in the third quarter, skating in from five yards out to push the lead to 19-0 before West Orange scored on a short run in the fourth for the final margin. DP (6-2) will travel to the west coast for the Bloomingdale Classic Friday and Saturday, where they'll take on Steinbrenner in the opening game.

JV Flag Football used a smothering defense, led by Clara Santos and Meaghan Cassius, to cause all sorts of issues for West Orange on offense, which culminated in a bad snap out of the end zone for a safety that gave the Panthers (6-2) a 2-0 victory as storms suspended play. JV will host Windermere next Tuesday for their season finale.
