Heading into the Men's Track and Field State Championship, DP's 4 x 100m relay team  knew they'd need to dig deep in order to compete in a loaded field but even they may have been shocked at their performance Saturday in Jacksonville. Junior Jacquez Jones, senior Andrew Campos, freshman Emmanuel Pierre and junior Nivon Holland turned a sixth-place seed into a fourth-place and season-best finishing time of 41.75, just five-hundredths of a second off a podium finish. Emmanuel Pierre, who was the only freshman state qualifier in the 200m, capped his debut season with a sixth place finish in a season-best 21.98. Freshman Daniel Demontagnac was also the only freshman qualifier in the triple jump as he leaped 44' 2.75" to finish 11th overall. Worth noting, nine of the ten state place-winners ahead of Demontagnac are seniors, which makes his potential medal run very exciting for next year! As a team, DP placed 27th of 60 scoring teams with eight team points. Congratulations to head coach Frank Fountain and the entire team on a strong season!
