Dr. Phillips Competitive Cheerleading wins the 2012 UCA Regional Championship

Cheerleading continues Metro dominance
1/19/2013 10:46:00 AM

Since the inception of the Metro West Conference Competitive Cheerleading Championship, there has only been one champion and that's Dr. Phillips. The Panthers came out strong once again and gave a packed crowd everything they expected from the four-time defending State Champions. DP captured the Metro West title for the third consecutive year, topping second place Wekiva and third place Ocoee by comfortable margins. To give some perspective on DP's dominance in the sport, consider they have competed in 18 events since 2009 (Metro, District, Regional, State and National) and have won 16...the only two "misses" were a second place national finish in 2010 and third place national finish in 2012. Up next for DP is the FHSAA State Championship January 31st in Kissimmee. Should they win, that would give them a school record-tying five consecutive State Championships, tying Women's Swimming's mark set from 1994-1998.
