No doubt about it

What many believed would be battle royal for Women's Basketball supremacy in Central Florida turned into a veritable drubbing as top-ranked Dr. Phillips went into the Eagles' Nest and walloped host Edgewater, 89-66. DP (21-3) set a new school record for points scored in a game, eclipsing the previous mark of 88 set this year against Father Lopez and back in 1992 against Colonial. Senior Sydnei McCaskill finished with 25 points and Hannah Schaible poured in 24 as the Panthers took control early and never let up. A five-point first quarter lead swelled to 17 at the half, 45-28, and the Panthers kept pressing through to the final horn. Matea Britvar finished with 13 points as the front court contingent of Stephanie Ratliff, Ionna McKenzie, Arianna Cumbie and Britvar combined for 25 points in the paint. The Panthers will now look to wrap up a perfect Metro Conference record as they close out the regular season tonight against Olympia in the House of Payne, honoring our four seniors: McCaskill, Schaible, Ratliff and Cumbie. Tipoff for the varsity game will be 7:30 pm. Women's JV Basketball gave a prelude of things to come in the nightcap as the Panthers (8-4) toppled host Edgewater, 44-37, with an exceptionally balanced attack. Keana Heredia continued her solid play with a team-high 15 points with Jah-Nay Anderson (8), Malia Harison (6), Isabella Vitello (6) and Danielle Villegas (5) contributing handsomely to the Panthers' fourth consecutive victory. They'll close out their season tomorrow night vs. Olympia at 5:30 pm.
