Senior captain Reed Davis scored seven goals, including five straight in the second quarter, to lead Men's Water Polo to a 22-6 victory over host Oviedo. DP also saw junior Ian Supra continue his stellar play with five goals and the Panthers had an additional seven goal scorers in notching their third straight win to open the season. Supra got things going quickly in the first quarter with two goals in the first 58 seconds, the first worthy of a highlight film. After getting the ball to the left of the goal, he ducked underwater, kicked from his back, turned and shoved it into the left corner. Supra went on to score three more goals, two coming inside a minute left in the first and second quarters. Goals by Ian PerkinsAnshul Devnani and Nate Hamner closed out the opening period with DP up comfortably, 9-3. In the second quarter, Perkins smacked home his second score off a feed from Reed Davis and Davis then took over the quarter with five straight goals in two and a half minutes. At the 2:59 mark, the senior backed in, turned and fired a missile into the top left corner for a 12-3 lead. Just 50 seconds later, Ian Supra fed Davis once again as he spun around and backhanded a laser into back of the net to push the lead to 14-3. Freshman Parker Sellers and senior Barrett Brinker accounted for the Panthers' two goals in the third quarter while in the fourth, DP finished off the Lions with four more goals. After a tremendous one-handed save by goalkeeper Nick Lachinski, freshman Corbin Chamberlain took a long pass and drove home a shot into the left side at the 5:02 mark. Freshman Sergei Pons picked up his first career goal with a skip shot from the top of the arc to make it 20-5 before Corbin Chamberlain slapped home a one-timer from Parker Sellers. Barrett Brinker followed up with his second score, a skip shot into the right corner, for the final margin.  Parker Sellers set a new DP school record with nine assists in the game, with Nick Lachinski adding five and Ian Supra three. Ian Perkins and Ian Supra led the way defensively with six steals apiece, Reed Davis tallied five and Barrett Brinker three. The Panthers now head into this weekend's Wildcat Invitational undefeated and will take on powerhouse Miami Gulliver Friday morning at 10:50.
