Baseball slides past Boone
2/27/2013 10:38:00 PM

At John Barbati Field, senior catcher Dan Autiello doubled in a run and drove in another with a sacrifice fly as Baseball doubled up visiting Boone, 2-1. Mike Flaherty went the distance on the hill allowing just five hits and one run while striking out four. Nic Strasser got things going in the first inning with a base hit, stole second and scored on Autiello's double. Later in the sixth inning, Ryan Larson was hit by a pitch, went to second on a sacrifice bunt by Jakob Probst, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on Autiello's sacrifice fly for a 2-0 lead. Boone halved the lead on a two-out home run in the top of the seventh but Flaherty slammed the door for DP's first District victory of the season. The Panthers (4-2) will wrap up the season series with Boone on the road Friday at 4:00.
