2/28/2013 9:36:00 AM

Men’s Lacrosse shook off a tough loss earlier this week and jumped all over visiting Freedom early in a 13-6 victory. Nick Forward took a pass from Ian Decker and whipped it into the cage just 36 seconds into the game and two minutes later, Decker doubled the lead off an assist from Brett Forward. Less than a minute later, Doug Essig took the ensuing faceoff, pulled it to himself and ran down to find Brett Forward, who made one move and ripped a bouncer into the back of the net to put DP up 3-0 just three minutes into the game. It got worse for Freedom as the Panthers punched in four goals in the final 2:50 of the first quarter, highlighted by a fast break off a faceoff where Essig found Nick forward for a goal that took all of eight seconds off the clock. DP (3-1) led 8-1 after the first quarter and cruised the rest of the way. Brett Forward finished with four goals and three assists, Nick Forward tallied four goals, Doug Essig added three scores and an assist, Ian Decker closed out with a goal and an assist, Julien Dutes chipped in a goal and Jake Gillen had a pair of assists. Nick Conner had a solid night in the cage with 11 saves while Edwin Wiley and Kevin Hoppey led the defense with six and seven ground balls, respectively. JV Lacrosse had no problems with Freedom in a 7-1 victory, their first of the season (1-2). Credit Charles DeJager and Dillon Scammon with two goals each and Brandon O’Dell with a goal and two assists. Only varsity will be in action tomorrow night at Lake Nona.
