McKenzie, Johnson push Women's Track at SC

Women's Track and Field placed in the top five in 11 events en route to a strong second place finish at the 15-team Spruce Creek Invitational in Port Orange. Junior Ionna McKenzie captured first place in the triple jump at 36' 5.5, senior Amber Johnson registered a pair of second place finishes in the 1500m (5:01.08) and the 3000 m (10:57.17) and junior Kira Myers was second in the pole vault at 9' 00. DP also took second in the 4 x 800m relay (10:27.92) and third in the 4 x 400m relay with a time of 4:10.69. Other top five finishers included junior Marly Joseph in the 400m (4th at 1:00.80), freshman Alahni Wood in the long jump (4th at 17' 2.75), triple jump (4th at 33' 2.5) and 100m hurdles (5th at 16.75). Our 4 x 100m relay placed fourth in 50.85 and junior Kim Nesmith finished fifth in the 100m with a time of 13.20. DP will travel to the Steinbrenner Invitational in Tampa next Saturday.
