Junior shortstop Nic Strasser (2013)

Baseball rallies past Apopka
3/20/2013 12:39:00 AM

Nic Strasser went 2 for 3, scored a run and set what's believed to be a school record with four stolen bases in one game as Baseball came back from a 2-0 deficit to upend host Apopka, 4-2. Nolan Lang finished 1 for 1, stole two bases and scored twice. Dan Autiello got the Panthers on the board in the top of the fifth with a sacrifice fly to shave the margin to 2-1 and in the sixth, Michael Marinaccio drove in Hakim Nobles with an RBI double for a 3-2 lead. Jakob Probst drove in the final run with a sacrifice fly in the seventh as the Panthers (11-2) reeled off their eighth consecutive victory. Mike Flaherty got the start on the hill and went four innings, scattered three hits while allowing one earned run and fanned five. Jakob Probst came on in relief and pitched a perfect inning to pick up the win while Kyle Marman struck out two in the sixth and Ryan Larson earned the save, striking out two in the seventh. Strasser's performance on the base path tonight will be verified for record purposes but it's worth noting he is a perfect 14 for 14 on stolen bases and has his eyes on Ron Colombo's record of 29 set back in 1994. DP will host Trinity Prep today at 4:30 and then head over to Gator's on Conroy and Dr. Phillips for Spirit Night from 6:00 - 10:00 pm.
