Sophomore pitcher Ryan Welsh (2013)

Welsh delivers Baseball's 16th win
4/6/2013 12:06:00 AM

Red hot Baseball continued their torrid pace with a 6-2 victory at Timber Creek. Sophomore Ryan Welsh got the call on the hill and pitched five solid innings, allowing just two hits while striking out four, to pick up the win. Kyle Marman came on in relief and allowed just one hit to close out the game for the Panthers' 13th victory in their last 14 games. DP (16-3) took a 1-0 lead in the second but the Wolves responded with two in the third before the DP bats came to life with a five-run sixth inning. Nic Strasser continues to do whatever it takes to get on base with a walk, getting by a pitch three times with a run scored and an RBI. Ryan Larson singled, walked, scored and drove in a run. Jakob Probst (single, run), Robbie Barrett (single), Zac Holbrook (fielder's choice, run, RBI) and Michael Marinaccio (single, HBP, RBI) all chipped in offensively for the win. The Panthers will host Olympia today at 2:00 pm as they celebrate Dr. Phillips Little League Day, honor and support cancer survivor Jorden Aponte and welcome their mentees from the Dr. Phillips ESE program prior to the game! This is one of the best days of the year for the Panther Baseball program...the weather should be perfect...come on out and enjoy the day!
