Men's Hoops hammers Freedom

Balanced scoring and  a terrorizing defense that held Freedom to just two points in the second quarter propelled Men's Basketball to a 75-43 victory in the District Semifinal. DP (18-8) broke open the game for good, outscoring the Patriots, 23-2, in the second quarter to take a 36-10 lead into halftime. 11 different players scored, including four in double figures. Jonathan Laurent went for 18 points and seven rebounds while Chaundee Brown nearly logged a triple-double with 12 points, 11 rebounds, eight assists and five steals. David Stephen chipped in 12 points, eight assists and five rebounds while Wilkins Desir added ten points and three steals in only 14 minutes of work. The Panthers advance to the District Championship game Friday night at Boone against fourth-seeded Cypress Creek, who stunned top-seeded Boone, 51-46, in the late semifinal. Tipoff will be at 7:00 pm; tickets will be $6.00 at the door.
