3/7/2014 1:01:00 AM

Women's Water Polo struggled a bit offensively in the first quarter but shook off the rust in the final three periods in an 11-2 victory over visiting Boone. Junior Rikki Price got the Panthers on the board just over a minute into the game and added the second of her four goals off an assist from junior Jacqueline James as DP led 2-1 after one period. In the second quarter, DP's shots found their mark. Senior Allie Magrino tossed a short lob into the back of the cage for the first of her four goals with 1:11 left in the half and Jacqueline James followed suit 33 seconds later off a long assist by goalkeeper Jess Robinson. With a 4-1 lead heading into the third quarter, goals by junior   Jillian Goulden, Rikki Price and Allie Magrino grew the lead to 7-1 and the Panthers added fuel to the fire in the fourth. Rikki Price's penalty shot goal, Maddie Magrino's shot from the point into the upper left 90, and a pair of goals by Allie Magrino in a 36 second span closed the books on a sensational victory highlighted by outstanding defense. DP (5-0) registered 14 steals on the night and goaltender Jess Robinson equaled that amount with 14 saves in the cage and added an assist and a steal. Statistics for the night: Rikki Price (four goals, two assists, two steals), Allie Magrino (four goals, two steals), Maddie Magrino (goal, three steals, assist), Jacqueline James (goal, two assists, steal), Jillian Goulden (goal, two steals), Julia James (two assists, steal), Megan Hallson (two steals).
