Senior pitcher Dallas Nelson (2014)

Baseball wins third straight
3/8/2014 7:12:00 PM

Sophomore Chase Cheek nearly hit for the cycle and four pitchers combined for a two-hit shutout as DP Baseball blasted host Cypress Creek, 14-0, for their third straight win. Cheek singled, doubled, tripled, drove in a career-high six runs, stole a base and scored a run while on the hill, it was Adam Polansky, Daniel Probst, Dallas Nelson and Ryan Evans posting the goose egg. Plenty of stats offensively: Yasin Chentouf (2-2, three runs), Ruben Saldana (2-4, double, RBI, two runs), Nic Strasser (HBP, stolen base, two runs), Matt Sullivan (sacrifice fly, run),  Nolan Lang (1-1, RBI, run), Nick Mason (two runs, RBI) and Tyler McCoskey (stolen base, two runs, RBI). DP looks to have found some offensive rhythm, outscoring their opponents 29-1 the last three games in evening their record at 4-4. They'll take on Freedom in a two-game series Wednesday and Friday.

JV Baseball hosted Cypress Creek Friday afternoon and pitcher JJ Rogers threw a masterpiece in a 1-0 victory over the Bears. Rogers went 5 2/3  innings, scattered just two hits and struck out six to pick up the victory. He didn't need much more offensively than Foster Gordon's RBI in the fourth inning. Chad Clennan finished 2-3 as did Kendall Williams who scored the eventual game-winning run. DP (3-4-2) will host Freedom Wednesday.
