Women's Water Polo wins 3

Women's Water Polo had a tremendous showing at this weekend's Wildcat Invitational, finishing with a 3-1 record with blowout victories over Boca Raton, St. Thomas Aquinas and Hagerty to improve to 8-1 on the season. Friday morning's opening match with Boca Raton saw junior Jacqueline James play arguably the best game of her career, finishing with four goals, four assists and three steals, leading DP to a 16-4 victory. Junior Jillian Goulden pitched in three goals, three steals and two assists; senior Allie Magrino added two goals, three steals and two assists; freshman Julia James netted two goals, two assists and a steal; junior Emily Kliewer picked up two goals and two steals. Solo goals were scored by Sunny Zhu (assist), Rikki Price (two assists, steal), and Destiny Slyster and goalkeeper Jessica Robinson stopped six shots.

DP's second game pitted the Panthers against state power Miami Ransom and despite holding their own in the second half, DP couldn't climb out of an eight-goal deficit in the first half, falling 13-5. Rikki Price (goal, two steals), Emily Kliewer (goal, three steals), Jillian Goulden (goal), Maddie Magrino (goal) and Jacqueline James (goal, steal) each provided the offensive numbers while Allie Magrino picked up two assists and three steals.

The Panthers notched their second win in three games Friday against St. Thomas Aquinas and they showed no mercy, peppering the Raiders with 14 straight goals in a 15-4 victory. Nine different Panthers put shots in the back of the net: Jacqueline James (two goals, two assists, three steals), Allie Magrino (two goals, four assists), Destiny Slyster (two goals, two steals), Megan Hallson (two goals, assist, steal), Rikki Price (two goals, assist), Jillian Goulden (two goals), Sunny Zhu (goal), Julia James (goal, steal) and Maddie Magrino (goal, assist, steal). Emily Kliewer recorded two steals and Jess Robinson tallied five saves in the victory.

DP's fourth game was much like their first two victories as they exploded for 13 straight goals in a 16-1 hammering of Hagerty. Allie Magrino had her best performance of the season with five goals, a career-high ten steals (one shy of the school record) and four assists. Jacqueline James had another stellar game with three goals, two steals and an assist while Julia James scored three goals as well, adding an assist and a steal to boot. Emily Kliewer put three into the cage, a career-high for the junior, plus a pair of steals; Megan Hallson notched a goal, assist and steal with Destiny Slyster rounding out the scoring column with a goal, three assists and two steals. Sunny Zhu and Hadiel Khlalil each registered a steal and Kyra Farkas picked up an assist. Junior Jess Robinson and freshman Molly Ortiz shared goaltending responsibilities with Robinson tabbing three assists, three steals and a pair of saves. DP (8-1) will take on West Orange Tuesday afternoon before their match-up with rival Lake Nona Thursday.
