Women's Track and Field takes second at the 2014 Lake Brantley Classic

Women's Track and Field had a strong performance at the 11-team Lake Brantley Classic as the Panthers took home the runner-up plaque, their highest team finish of the season. Plenty of individual top eight finishes to go around, starting with sophomore Alahni Wood who earned a gold medal in the triple jump (33-10.5), silver in the 100m hurdles (15.89) and a fourth place finish in the long jump (15-9.75). Sophomore Ketondra Cuyler earned a silver medal in the discus with a personal record throw of 86-0 even while Keithlethia Cuyler (79-10) and Nyanni Davis (79-7) placed sixth and seventh, respectively. In the 800m, Annika Sison won the silver medal in 2:26.99 and Briana Ballatt was fifth in 2:30.61. Marly Joseph captured the bronze medal in the 400m at 59.91 followed by Haille Walker in fourth (1:00.45) and Adajah Irving in seventh (1:01.28). Joseph also placed sixth in the long jump (15-6.5) and seventh in the 200m (27.30). Rounding out the individual medal winners was Diamond Ellington who took the bronze with a time of 50.08 in the 300m hurdles. DP earned silver medals in both the 4 x 800 relay with Haille Walker, Adajah Irving, Briana Ballatt and Annika Sison (10:11.63) as well as the 4 x 400 relay with Haille Walker, Marly Joseph, Adajah Irving and Annika Sison (4:12.16). Other top eight finishers included Sierra Middleton in pole vault (fifth at 7-6) and in the 1600m (eighth in 5:49.90); Jamie Ivey in the 3200m (sixth in 13:37.17); Morgan Pinnock in the shot put (seventh at 28-7); Lydia Kulatti in the 3200m (eighth in 14:16.07). DP will head to Showalter Field Saturday for the 9th / 10th grade Metro Championship.
