Baseball stings Lovett for 6th straight win
3/15/2014 9:13:00 PM

Senior righthander Adam Polansky spotted visiting Lovett (Georgia) two runs in the first inning but was a brick wall the rest of the way as Baseball stormed back for a 9-2 victory, their sixth consecutive win. The Panthers (7-4) clawed back to tie the game in the bottom of the second when Nolan Lang led off with a sharp single to right and stole second. After Hakim Nobles walked, Nick Mason dropped down a perfect bunt advancing both runners. With Tyler McCoskey in the box, a wild pitch brought home Lang to cut the margin to 2-1 and McCoskey brought in Nobles two pitches later on a sacrifice fly to even the score. Polansky retired the side in order in the visiting third but DP was just getting started. Yasin Chentouf blooped a one-out single to left field, Nic Strasser reached on a hit by pitch for the sixth time this season and Matt Sullivan loaded the bases on an infield single. With one down and Nolan Lang at the plate, Chentouf came home with the eventual game-winning run on a wild pitch and Lang grounded out to shortstop to score Strasser for a 4-2 lead. DP doubled their run total in the fourth and they did it all with two outs. After Josh Jimenez was hit by a pitch and stole second, Chase Cheek smacked a single through the left side to score Jimenez. A walk to Chentouf and a double steal scored Cheek before Nic Strasser's RBI single made it 7-2. Matt Sullivan roped a single to left field to score Strasser's  second run of the game and just like that, DP was in command, 8-2. Fast forward to the home half of the sixth where Ruben Saldana led off the inning with a base hit to left field and scored on a bases load walk by Carmac Holbrook for the final margin. Matt Sullivan and Nolan Lang each banged out a pair of hits while Hakim Nobles reached base on three walks. Polansky went four innings and struck out four before giving way to Andrew Vaccacio, Ryan Evans and Chris Moore in succession who combined for three scoreless innings, one hit and three strikeouts. DP will now focus on traveling up the road to Olympia Monday afternoon.
