Sophomore Ketondra Cuyler wins the silver medal in discus at the 2014 Lake Brantley Classic

Women's Track and Field headed up to Showalter Field for the annual Freshmen / Sophomore Metro Championship and on the strength of four gold medals, the Panthers placed second in the 14-team event. Annika Sison won the gold in the 3200m with a time of 12:08.29, a full 34 seconds faster than the rest of the field. Sison also earned a silver in the 1600m at 5:28.22 and was a member of the gold-medal winning 4 x 800m relay with Haille Walker, Adajah Irving and Lydia Kulatti (10:23.23). Alahni Wood also had a banner day with a gold in the 100m hurdles (15.74), silver in the triple jump with a season-best 34-10 and placed fourth in the long jump at 16-3.75. Wood also earned a relay gold medal with her 4 x 400m teammates, Haille Walker, Adajah Irving and Widlene Pierre (4:12.28). Ketondra Cuyler earned a silver medal in shot put (31-1.5), Haille Walker won the bronze in the 400m (1:00.59) while other top five finishers included Morgan Pinnock in the shot put (29-3) and Valeria Reyes in the 800m (2:39.25). Up next for the Panthers is the full Metro Conference Championship meet next Wednesday and Thursday at Showalter Field.
