Senior pitcher Adam Polansky (2014)

Polansky silences Bolles
3/27/2014 4:01:00 PM

Senior Adam Polansky pitched six scoreless innings, scattered three hits and struck out seven in a masterful performance as Baseball shut out Jacksonville Bolles, 3-0. Polansky (5-0) has now won his last five starts and lowered his earned run average to a stifling 0.90 while striking out 29 batters in 31 innings of work. Nic Strasser, Matt Sullivan and Ruben Saldana each went 2 for 3 as the Panthers improved to 12-5, winners of 11 of their last 12 games. As dominant as Polansky was on the mound, DP needed just the one run they scored in the first. A one-out double by Yasin Chentouf and an RBI single to right by Matt Sullivan gave the Panthers a 1-0 lead they held until doubling it two innings later. Matt Sullivan singled to right with two down in the bottom of the third, went to second on a single by Nolan Lang and scored on Ruben Saldana's RBI single to left. With Polansky in firm command, DP added another run in the fifth when Nic Strasser roped a 3-1 pitch into left field for a double and scored on Saldana's double to right. Hard to argue that Ruben Saldana is on fire at the plate. In his last ten games, the sophomore is batting .407 with 11 hits and seven runs scored. With a 3-0 lead heading into the seventh, Polansky deferred to Ryan Evans who picked up his first save of the season. The Panthers will close out their Spring Break tournament schedule against Faith Baptist today at 4:00 pm.
