As we head toward the final turn of the 2014 season, Men's Track and Field continues to assert itself as one of the state's best and they proved it again this weekend in Jacksonville. At the University of North Florida Invitational, DP stuck gold in five events and medaled in five more to dominate the rain-soaked event.  Senior Roderick Proctor had himself a day, earning the gold medal in the long jump (21-8.25), silver in the triple jump with a leap of 44-2 and a seventh place finish in the high jump at 5-8. Sophomore Alvin Bryant earned an individual gold medal in the 200m with a time of 21.95 and anchored two relay teams to gold as well: the 4 x 100m team with Marvin Marshall, Deionte Gaines and Marvin Brown (41.83) and the 4 x 400m team with Emare Hogan, Jamari Smith and Javon Thomas (3:20.49). Javon Thomas also earned an individual gold medal with a 39.51 finish in the 300m hurdles while Edwin D’Haiti placed eighth at 41.83. In the 110m hurdles, Thomas placed fourth (5.41) while D’Haiti earned fifth (15.63). Freshman Emare Hogan was the silver medalist in the 800m (1:56.23), just .07 off the lead, while bronze medals were earned by Deionte Gaines in the 100m (11.41) and Jamari Smith in the 400m (49.27). DP’s 4 x 800m relay team of Joseph Smith, Emare Hogan, Chris Bradshaw and Jean D’Haiti brought home the silver medal in 8:09.35, just .15 off the gold medal pace.
