4/4/2014 12:52:00 AM

After advancing all five singles lines and both doubles lines into the finals, Women's Tennis finished the job to perfection with a resounding sweep to earn their 12th District Championship, but first since 2011. DP won every single match to finish with the maximum 21 points, easily outdistancing second place Olympia by eight points. Defending State Champion Alizee Michaud is poised to make a return run for the ring as she took line one, 6-2, 6-1. In line two, Sarah Baron found herself in a battle but rolled to a dominating win in the third set to win 6-2, 5-7, 6-1. Baron and Michaud teamed up to win the line one doubles title, 6-0, 6-2 and with that victory, Sarah Baron earned her eighth career District Championship, the most in school history. Zoe Monge took home the championship in line three with a 6-4, 6-2 victory; the line four title was earned by Sara Veugeler in 6-2, 6-3 fashion and in line five, Lara Nural won the title with a 6-3, 6-1 victory. The line two doubles championship was won by Monge and Veugeler by forfeit to give the Panthers a clean sweep and the trophy. The Panthers will now host Lakeland George Jenkins in the Regional Tournament April 8th at Lake Cane and if they win, they will tie the school record for consecutive wins in a season with 16 set back in 2002.
