While many had written off Men's Basketball as a playoff contender after an uncharacteristic 6-7 start, the Panthers simply focused, continued to work hard and stay the course. As a result, DP has reeled off ten consecutive victories and punctuated their streak with a dominating 85-49 victory over Jones that clinched the program's 13th Metro West Conference championship and fifth in the last six years. The Panthers (16-7) overwhelmed the visiting Tigers from the opening tip with a 9-0 run and jumped out to a 19-2 lead with 3:57 left in the quarter. David Stephen was on fire, draining three consecutive three-pointers as DP closed out the first with a 31-9 lead. Stephen continued his long distance onslaught in the second quarter with a pair of threes while Elijah Jordan buried his second three of the night to push the lead to 40-18. In the third quarter, Chaundee Brown scored eight of his 19 points to highlight a 10-0 run while Jonathan Laurent closed out the quarter with a strong turnaround jumper in the lane followed by a steal and tomahawk dunk as the lead grew to 71-39. In the fourth quarter, Justin Tucker drove inside, banked it home and sank the subsequent free throw at the 5:08 mark to trigger DP's fourth consecutive running clock. Jonathan Laurent led all scorers with 24 points along with eight rebounds while Chaundee Brown finished with 19 points, four rebounds and three assists. David Stephen sank five from downtown on his way to 19 points, ten assists and three steals. Elijah Jordan went for ten points and seven assists and Malik William dominated defensively with 11 rebounds, seven blocks, five assists and three steals.  DP has two more games left in the regular season: Friday night at home against Winter Park and Saturday on the road against Winter Haven in Bartow.
