The 2015 Women's Swimming State Championship saw two sensational performances by the Dr. Phillips relay teams as the Panthers earned two top six finishes and placed 14th overall in the field of 48 scoring teams. In the 200 Freestyle Relay, DP was seeded sixth heading into the finals but junior Zoe Sherman, sophomore Roseleen Olivares, junior Maddie Magrino and freshman Kayla Smith swam their fastest time of the year in 1:38.07 to capture fourth place among the 16 teams, the top finish of any Metro Conference school. Later in the evening, having earned the last qualifying spot in the championship finals, the 400 Freestyle Relay team of Smith, Olivares, Magrino and Sherman broke their season-best time and pulled off a sixth-place finish with a time of 3:33.48, eclipsing their earlier effort by nearly a full second. Earlier in the day, Zoe Sherman, who was DP's lone individual qualifier this year, placed 21st in the 100 Freestyle in 53.99 and 22nd in the 50 Freestyle with a time of 24.85. DP earned a total of 56 points, 14 points behind Hagerty and two points ahead of Spruce Creek. With all four girls returning next year, as well as sophomore Caroline Grzeszczak, who was ready to step onto the relay team when called, 2016 should be a great year for Women's Swimming once again. Congratulations to head coach Natalie Nickson and the entire team on another strong showing!
