Men's Basketball pulled away from Edgewater in the second half of a 76-53 rout of the visting Eagles as four starters scored in double figures. In the opening quarter, DP (4-1) had difficulty establishing a rhythm and turned the ball over nine times but still took a 15-12 lead. In the second, sophomore Daniel Love and junior Nick Smith hit consecutive threes to double the lead to six points and a three from the top of the arc by senior Richard McKenzie capped a 7-0 run that gave the Panthers their then-largest lead, 33-22. Edgewater (5-3) responded with a 6-0 run to close out the half with the Panthers up five, 33-28. Things got better for DP in the third, however. Sophomore Je'Quan Burton fed a perfect pass to Richard McKenzie for a two-handed dunk to open the quarter and senior Justin Tucker took another Burton pass for a dunk to push the lead back to eleven, 39-28, at the 5:49 mark. Tucker scored eight of his 12 points in the third quarter and Nick Smith poured in seven of his 17 points, including a long three and a 13-foot jumper that helped push the lead to 54-39 heading into the fourth. DP continued to pressure Edgewater in the final period, which led to a 10-0 run midway through, en route to the 76-53 final. Daniel Love finished with a team-high 19 points and seven rebounds, Nick Smith tallied 17 points and five rebounds, Justin Tucker registered 12 points and nine rebounds, Richard McKenzie picked up 12 points and six rebounds, Je'Quan Burton finished with a team-high five assists and senior Jaquarius Bargnare closed out with five rebounds and three assists.
