12/14/2015 11:30:00 PM

Five players scored in double figures, nine players scored overall and the defense was sensational as Men's Basketball blasted host Ocoee, 90-52, in their most impressive victory of the season and their highest offensive output since putting 90 on Olympia in November, 2014. DP (5-1) jumped out to a 9-2 lead in the opening quarter highlighted by Richard McKenzie's three to open the scoring and a put-back off the glass by Justin Tucker at 5:36. Nick Smith, who led all scorers with 20 points, buried a three from the top of the arc and followed up with a banker to make it 14-7. With just over two minutes to go, Tucker drove into the lane, spun around and floated a jumper to push the lead to ten, 17-7, before Daniel Love drove the length of the court and beat the buzzer with a layup for a 19-9 lead.

In the second, seven players put points on the board and it started with Daniel Love's steal and coast-to-coast layup that sparked an 11-4 run to open the period. DP was sensational on the offensive boards and with a 13-point lead inside five minutes left in the half, Justin Tucker collected a rebound off a three-point attempt and hammered it home with a left-handed tomahawk dunk that simultaneously quieted the crowd and drained Ocoee's adrenaline. The Panthers continued on a 11-2 run to close out the half with a 42-25 lead.

Nick Smith drained consecutive threes from each side of the arc to push the lead to 53-29 at the 5:37 mark of the third quarter and Jaquarius Bargnare reeled off six of DP's next seven points to give the Panthers their then-largest lead, 60-35. Freshman Marcus Tillman kickstarted a 13-0 run with three steals and subsequent layups that put the game out of reach by the end of the third quarter. With a 66-40 lead, sophomore Isayas Aris came off the bench and sank a long three at the buzzer and started off the fourth with another three from the top of the key en route to a ten point performance. Threes by Bargnare and junior Hnric Murray put the wraps on the victory as DP was deadly from long distance with 12 three pointers on the night. In addition to Nick Smith's 20 points, Jaquarius Bargnare (14), Richard McKenzie (ten points, five rebounds), Justin Tucker (10 points, six rebounds) and Isayas Aris (ten points) all scored in double figures. Marcus Tillman finished with eight points and five steals, Daniel Love had seven points, five rebounds and four assists, Braxton Clark added seven points and Hnric Murray closed out with four points. The Panthers will now focus on Metro West rival Evans Thursday night in the House of Payne.
