Women's Soccer 2016 District Champions

Women's Soccer wins 1st District Championship
1/16/2016 10:32:00 AM

They had come so close many times in the past 28 years but for the first time in school history, Women's Soccer finished the job. With ten minutes remaining in regulation, senior defender Caitlyn Brown's header found the back of the net to give Dr. Phillips a 1-0 victory over host West Orange and the program's first District Championship. DP (14-5) avenged an early season loss to the Warriors and they did it exactly how they've won so many of their matches this season...with suffocating defense and top-notch goalkeeping. Sophomore keeper Launa Foreman gave the Panthers their 13th shutout of the season, one shy of the school record set one year ago, and earned DP home field advantage in the Regional Quarterfinal next Thursday against Lake Mary (15-4-2), who fell in double overtime (1-0) to Oviedo.
