After opening up their season with a first place tie a week earlier at the National Training Center, Men's Track and Field flexed its muscles in the 4 x 400m relay to edge out Osceola by one point (81-80) to win the 26-team Lake Brantley Invitational Saturday. DP trailed the Kowboys by nine points heading into the final event and needed a first place finish to take the title. Not only did they win, they dominated with a 3:22.65 performance, more than two full seconds faster than second place Lake Brantley. Individual top eight finishes in the order of events included Bobby Irvin (sixth at 41-0) and Pearson Weaver (seventh at 40-11) in the triple jump; Nigel Alexander (eighth) in shot put (46-0) and fifth in discus (137-0); Larry Pierre in high jump (second at 5-10); 4 x 800 meter relay (second in 8:14.22); Sydney Capers in the 800m 'B' race (2:09.44); Alvin Bryant in the 100m (first in 10.81); 4 x 100m relay (third in 42.35); Emare Hogan in 400m (first in 49.36); Jean D'Haiti in the 800m (second in 2:00.14); Yuan Pagan (3rd in 22.88) and Caleb Walls (fourth in 22.95) in the 200m. DP will now focus on the TFA Invitational Saturday.
