Women's Lax comes back to beat Celebration
3/4/2016 1:01:00 AM

Women's Lacrosse found themselves in a battle with visiting Celebration but seven goals from Elyse Decker and five more from Piper Johnson powered the Panthers to a 16-12 victory. DP (7-1) spotted the Storm an early 2-0 lead before scoring six straight goals to take a 6-2 lead. Celebration responded with four scores of their own to tie the game at 6-6 before Decker and Johnson pushed the Panthers into the half up 10-8. The pair combined again to add four more early in the second half to give DP a 14-8 lead but the Storm needed all of two minutes to pull within two, 14-12. After winning the draw, Celebration looked to pull within one but a sensational interception by goalie Jada Foy preceded a pair of game-sealing goals. Defensively, DP was led by Cece Ballmes and Amanda Massey while Ashley Derusha came off the bench and gave the Panthers some great minutes at midfield and attack. The ladies will host Ocoee Monday night, First Academy Tuesday and will head to Trinity Prep Thursday.

In JV action, Brooke Bloom scored three goals, Sarah Pender scored twice and Lorena Salas and Farah Salah put one each in the cage in DP's 8-0 victory over Celebration. They will host Boone Tuesday.
