Senior pitcher Chris Moore (2016)

Baseball falls to Olympia in pitchers' duel
3/6/2016 11:07:00 AM

After a tough district loss to Cypress Creek, 3-2, a day earlier, Baseball looked to bounce back against rival Olympia Saturday afternoon but couldn't get the bats going in a 2-0 loss to the Titans. Starting pitcher Chris Moore went six strong innings and allowed just two earned runs, one in the third and another in the fourth, before giving way to Ryan Goonen in the seventh. The Panthers (4-6) will need to shake off the disappointment quickly as they take on district rival Freedom Wednesday and Friday.

JV Baseball fell to Olympia Saturday, 6-5, to drop to 5-4 on the season. The Panthers rallied twice after being down 3-0 in the first and 6-2 in the third but the bats went quiet the rest of the way. Sebastian Oetterer went 2-2 with a walk and an RBI and Raymond Negron was 1-3 with an RBI and drove in two runs. James Hurst was 1-3 with a double and scored twice while Jacob Hartman and Logan Bryan each went 1-3 with an RBI. Logan Bryan allowed just one earned run and struck out five into the third inning but four errors in the first three innings contributed to five unearned runs. Casey Carns came on in relief in the third and pitched the last five scoreless innings, scattering five hits while striking out three. DP will look to rebound at Lake Brantley tomorrow.
