Flag Football also hosted Senior Night as they took on rival Apopka in the Spoone. The Panthers dug themselves into an early 13-0 hole in the first quarter and couldn’t recover in a 19-13 loss to fall to 9-3 in the regular season finale. Nisa Costa hauled in a 35-yard touchdown pass from Kaylee Messina to pull to within a score, 13-7, late in the second quarter but Apopka responded with a 65-yard touchdown reception for a 19-7 lead at the half. After a scoreless third, DP punched in their second touchdown on a fourth and goal pass from Messina to Jordin Ferguson from eight yards out to make it 19-13 but that’s as close as the Panthers would come. At the half, seniors Brooke Harrigan, Nada Chouri, Gianna Fischetti and Caitlyn Brown were honored. District Tournament action starts next week as the Panthers will host Timber Creek Monday night at 7:00 pm in the second semifinal contest. JV Flag Football lost to Apopka, 21-0, to finish their season with a record of 3-5-3.
