Junior quarterback Kaylee Messina threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more to lead Flag Football to a 25-7 victory over Timber Creek in the District Semifinal last night. Messina put the Panthers (10-3) on the board in the first quarter on a four-yard scoring run and completed an extra point pass to freshman Nisa Costa for a 7-0 lead. In the second, Messina connected with freshman Shiquila Bryant on a spectacular 35-yard touchdown pass that saw Bryant fight off the defender to make the catch and drag her into the end zone for a 13-0 lead. After a scoreless third quarter, Messina hit senior Brooke Harrigan for a 45-yard gain that set up a five-yard touchdown pass to freshman Megan Lapeyrouse. With   DP up 19-0 in the fourth, Timber Creek got on the board with four minutes remaining in the quarter but the Panthers would ice the game just over a minute later. Messina completed a 40-yard pass to Nisa Costa and two plays later, Shiquila Bryant snapped down a 30-yard pass for a first and goal at the two. Kaylee Messina closed out the game with a two-yard touchdown run for the 25-7 final that pushes the Panthers into the District Championship game tomorrow night at 6:00 pm vs. Boone.
