Men’s Track and Field placed in the top three in six events, including a gold medal finish in the opening event, to take third place among 31 scoring teams in the Regional Championship. DP’s 4 x 800m relay team of Jean D’Haiti, Carl Schwartz, Alex Nkuitabong and Emare Hogan torched the track with a time of 7:54.46, the second fastest time in the state this year, to win the gold medal. Hogan went on to win silver medals in three more events: the 800m (1:54.67), the 4 x 400m relay with Pearson Weaver, Jean D’Haiti and Carl Schwartz (3:18.78) and the 4 x 100m relay with Tanner Ingle, Yuan Pagan and Caleb Walls (41.93). Tanner Ingle earned the silver medal in the long jump (22’ 3.5”) and Pearson Weaver claimed the bronze in the 400m (49.33). While the team finished well in all its events, the day was dampened by the loss of senior defending State Champion Alvin Bryant, who was injured in the preliminary heat of the 200m. DP will now move on to the State Championship next weekend in Bradenton.
