Senior Alahni Wood, who will compete for FAMU next year, capped her brilliant record-setting career at Dr. Phillips with a silver medal finish in the 100m hurdles at the 2016 Track and Field State Championship in Bradenton. Wood qualified for Saturday's final with a second place finish in the preliminaries and held serve in the championship heat with a time of 14.60 to earn her first state medal. In the 4 x 800m relay, senior Haille Walker, sophomore Isabela Bartczak, sophomore Shayla Douglas and senior Annika Sison placed 11th with a time of 9:52.18. In the final event of the weekend, our 4 x 400m relay team of Shayla Douglas, Haille Walker, sophomore Iyanna Ardis and Alahni Wood also finished 11th in 4:03.47. As a team, the Panthers placed 24th among 58 scoring teams. Plenty of talent returning next year for this squad and certainly a lot to look forward to moving ahead! Congratulations to all our athletes and coaches on a strong year!
