Men's Swimming 2nd at District
10/22/2016 8:03:00 PM

Senior Jake Meisenheimer won both individual events and anchored both freestyle relay teams to gold medals as Men's Swimming and Diving earned a second place team finish at the District Championship. Meisenheimer blew away the field in both the 100 backstroke (53.75) and in the 200 free with a time of 1:42.63, just one one-hundredth of a second off the school record set by Ian Perkins in 2012. Meisenheimer teamed up with sophomore Gavin Collins, senior Tyler Haugh and sophomore Max Meisenheimer to win both the 200 free relay (1:31.38) and the 400 free relay (3:19.82) to close out the meet. Junior Alex Kaiser also earned a podium finish, placing third in diving with 354.25 points. Jake Meisenheimer and his relay teammates all qualified automatically for the Regional Championship next Saturday but DP's additional top eight finishers must await results from the other districts to determine if they advance. Still in the mix individually are Tyler Haugh in the 50 free (fourth) and 100 free (fourth), Daniel Magrino in the 500 free (fourth) and 100 fly (fifth), James Sweet in the 200 free (fifth) and 500 free (sixth), Max Meisenheimer in the 100 free (fifth) and 50 free (sixth), Luis Ortiz in the 200 free (sixth) and 500 free (seventh), Stefan Klumb in the 100 breast (sixth) and 200 IM (eighth) and Gavin Collins in the 50 free (seventh) and 100 free (eighth). Results should be available on the FHSAA's Swimming page by Sunday evening.
