Volleyball falls to Riverview in Regional Semi
10/30/2016 8:07:00 PM

They may not have won the match but they sure went out fighting like champions. Women's Volleyball (19-8) traveled down to Sarasota Riverview Friday night with every intention of leaving it all on the court against the host Rams (23-2) and that's exactly what they did. After dropping the first two games, 25-20 and 25-17, the Panthers withstood a furious rally to take the third game, 25-21. In game four, the Panthers and Rams went back and forth with sensational rallies all game. After DP took a 5-2 lead, Riverview utilized a 5-1 run to jump ahead 11-10, but the Panthers counterpunched with a 6-1 run of their own for a 19-16 lead. That margin was extended to 23-16 before Riverview went on a tear, scoring eight of the next nine points to tie the game at 24-24, and went on to close out the match with a 27-25 victory. It may not have ended they way they had hoped but it certainly was a phenomenal season for the Panthers! Congratulations to all our graduating seniors on setting a clear example of how to work hard and sacrifice for the good of the team and to coach Danny Eleutiza as well, on an extraordinary first season at DP!
