Women's Swimming 10th at Regional

Sophomore Kayla Smith earned a pair of top-six finishes in both individual events and helped both freestyle relay teams to top-eight finishes at the Women's Swimming Regional Championship Saturday at the Aquatic Center. Smith took home a bronze medal finish in the 100 freestyle in 53.21 and a sixth-place finish in the 100 backstroke in 59.55, earning qualifying berths in both individual events at next Saturday's State Championship meet in Stuart. In the 200 free relay, Smith led off for Caroline Grzeszczak, Roseleen Olivares and Maddie Magrino as the Panthers finished fifth in 1:39.68. Later in the 400 free relay, all four returned to finish eighth in 3:38.69 with both relay teams qualifying for the State Championship meet. DP's 200 medley relay team opened up the day with an 11th place finish in 1:55.47 with Emma Chapman, Paola Hernandez, Julia James and Caroline Grzeszczak. Junior Roseleen Olivares earned points for the Panthers with a 12th place finish in the 100 fly (59.85) and a 15th place finish in the 200 IM (2:13.73).
