Women's Swimming's 200 freestyle relay team of Kayla Smith, Maddie Magrino, Caroline Grzeszczak and Roseleen Olivares placed fifth at the 2016 State Championship

Bolstered by a fifth-place finish in the 200 freestyle relay, Women's Swimming placed 16th of 46 scoring teams at the 2016 State Championship in Stuart. DP's relay team of Kayla Smith, Caroline Grzeszczak, Roseleen Olivares and Maddie Magrino touched the wall in 1:38.35, their fastest time of the year. In the final event, the 400 freestyle relay, the ladies also put forth their best effort of the year with a preliminary time of 3:36.19 and came back in the consolation finals to place 10th in 3:36.29. Individually, sophomore Kayla Smith placed 10th overall in the 100 freestyle (52.98) and 18th in the 100 backstroke (59.97). Senior Maddie Magrino finished her strong DP swim career as a three-time Metro West Conference Champion and a five-time District Champion.
