Senior Dylan Meeks pinned all three of his opponents in the first period en route to his school-record fourth consecutive Metro West Championship while senior Jamel Clue captured his second straight title. Clue, who won the 120-pound title a year ago, matched the feat at 126 pounds after three resounding victories. In the opening round, Clue secured a technical fall with a 16-1 victory over Jones and followed up with a 33-second pin over West Orange in the semifinal. In the championship bout, Clue recorded his second technical fall of the night with a 23-6 victory over Edgewater. In the 285-pound division, Dylan Meeks wrestled a grand total of 2:34 across three matches as he pinned his way to the Metro West Championship once again. Meeks picked up a quarterfinal pin at 1:20 of the first round against Edgewater and advanced to the championship match after pinning Evans in just 53 seconds in the semifinal. His most efficient work of the night was reserved for the finals, however, when Meeks pinned Olympia in just 21 seconds. Meeks improved his unbeaten streak to 112 consecutive matches heading into the District Tournament next Friday at Edgewater. In the 113 pound class, freshman Gabriel Marquez placed fourth, finishing the tournament with a record of 2-2 with victories over Wekiva (pin 2:30) and West Orange (pin 1:12). Marquez had a strong showing in the Consolation Finals, falling 7-6 to Evans.
