After conceding an early goal, Women’s Lacrosse reeled off 13 of the next 14 goals to force a running clock with 14 minutes left in the first half in a 21-7 victory over host Winter Springs. DP (2-0) saw goals across the board, led by freshman Mary Sosebee and sophomore Zariah Durham, who both scored four of their five goals in the first half alone. Senior Elyse Decker scored four goals and collected four ground balls; sophomore Justine Decker scored a goal and added four assists while senior Piper Johnson scored three goals. Defensively, Ashley DeRusha gathered up three ground balls, with Yasmeen Garib, Kambria Barry, Makinley Gay and Mackenzie Allen getting special mention for solid play. Senior goaltender Dalia Khatib allowed just four goals in 40 minutes of play before giving way to sophomore Layla Benaissa, who made her debut stopping the first three shots she faced. The Panthers will travel to Wekiva Tuesday.
