Dylan Meeks wins his fifth consecutive Regional Championship (2017)

Dylan Meeks wins Regional Championship

To include Dylan Meeks winning a championship in the likes of the sun rising in the east or other commonly-held guarantees might seem easy, but it does a disservice to the work he has put in to make those championships seem so inevitable. But it sure seems easy for him. For the fifth consecutive year dating back through his eighth grade season, Meeks captured the Men's Wrestling Regional Championship in dominating fashion, defeating TJ Boyd (51-5) of Winter Springs by technical fall, 16-1. Earlier in the meet, Meeks pinned Shamir Nelson of Timber Creek at 1:01, defeated Christian Gomez of Hagerty (46-10) by major decision (16-5), and earned the title bout berth by pinning Fleming Island's Jose Concepcion (50-10) in the first period (1:50). Next Friday and Saturday in Kissimmee, Meeks (23-0) will be looking to secure his fourth consecutive State Championship which would solidify him among the most elite wrestlers in Florida state history.
