Football shuts down Osceola
9/11/2010

Senior Ha'Sean Clinton-Dix amassed 193 all-purpose yards, including three touchdowns, earning the Apex Wealth Management Player of the Game, to lead Dr. Phillips Football to a 49-7 victory over the visiting  Osceola Kowboys.  Quarterback Nick Patti completed 10 of 15 passes for 215 yards and two touchdowns and Demetrius Hart rushed for 98 yards and three scores as the Panthers improved to 2-0 on the season.

After a 90-minute weather delay, Osceola struck first, marching 46 yards on five plays for an early 7-0 lead.  From there on out, however, it was all DP as the Panthers scored 49 unanswered points in seven consecutive possessions.  Down 7-0, DP put the ball in Hart's hands eight times in the 12-play, 77-yard drive which culminated in senior Pat Fenlon's 13-yard touchdown reception.  On the first play of Osceola's ensuing possession, LaQuentin Smith pounced on a fumble to set DP up deep in Kowboy territory.  The Panthers wasted no time in capitalizing with Ha'Sean Clinton-Dix taking it 21 yards to the house on the first play for a 14-7 lead.

In the second quarter, the Panthers marched 72 yards in nine plays highlighted by two Dee Hart runs of 11 yards each and a 25-yard pass from Patti to sophomore Eric Harrell.  Hart blasted it in from three yards out to make it a 21-7 lead at the 7:07 mark.  Osceola couldn't find much flow offensively and punted it back to DP with 3:27 remaining in the half.  From the DP 39, Patti connected with Chris Gallon for 12 yards and later for 33 more to set up Dee Hart's second touchdown run, again from three yards out, to push the margin to 28-7 at the half.

On the opening kickoff of the second half, Ha'Sean Clinton-Dix fielded the football at the two yard line, picked up key blocks and raced 98 yards for the touchdown, the second-longest return in DP history behind Hart's 100-yard return in 2009 and tied with Jeremy Young's return vs. Oak Ridge in 2003.  Up 35-7, DP wasn't finished.  After an Osceola punt set the Panthers up at their own 35, Patti found a wide-open Ha'Sean Clinton-Dix for a 65-yard touchdown pass and a 42-7 lead.  DP closed out the scoring in the fourth quarter on Dee Hart's five-yard touchdown run to cap a 43-yard drive.

DP will now focus on rival Olympia, on the road, Friday at 7:30.
