Men's Water Polo finished with three victories and a second place finish at the Ian Supra Memorial Tournament (2017)

Men's Water Polo 2nd at Supra Tournament

The inaugural Ian Supra Memorial Tournament concluded Saturday night at the YMCA Aquatic Center and Men's Water Polo finished with a 3-1 record, placing second to Miami Ransom Everglades in the 12-team field. In the championship game, goaltender Tyler Haugh fired a skip shot the entire length of the pool into the left corner of the net to tie the score at 5-5 in the third quarter but the Raiders responded with seven unanswered goals for the 12-5 victory to take home the trophy. Haugh finished with 19 saves while Jake Meisenheimer scored three, Anthony Battestella added a goal and Dan Magrino picked up three assists. In semifinal action, DP had little difficulty in a 14-5 victory over Seminole. Jake Meisenheimer led the Panthers with six goals,    Max Meisenheimer finished with three, with solo goals added by Anthony Battestella, James Sweet, Collin Haugh, Alex Kaiser and Dan Magrino. Pool play opened Friday morning with the Panthers paying fitting tribute to Ian Supra with a 13-3 victory over Suncoast. DP jumped out to a 10-1 first half lead and substituted liberally in the second half. James Sweet scored a career-high six goals, Max Meisenheimer put two in the cage with solo goals credited to Collin Haugh, Anthony Battestella, Dan Magrino, Gabe Madej and Jake Meisenheimer. DP closed out the first day's action with a convincing victory over Lake Brantley, 15-4, led by Max Meisenheimer's five goals. Gabe Madej, Jake Meisenheimer, and Gavin Collins each scored twice with James Sweet, Collin Haugh, Alex Kaiser and Dan Magrino providing the remaining goals. DP's record now stands at 13-3 with a game at West Orange Tuesday before heading up to Chicago for the Dan Lynch Classic Thursday.
