Sophomore Max Meisenheimer (2017)

Men's Water Polo Metro West Champions
3/15/2017 12:14:00 AM

For the seventh consecutive year, Men's Water Polo was crowned Metro West Conference champions after defeating host West Orange, 12-7, on a frigid night off Lake Apopka. A brutally cold wind coupled with blinding sunlight on one end of the pool made for a difficult game early on as the Panthers found themselves in unfamiliar territory, down 4-2. But when the field was flipped at the half, the Panthers rallied for five straight goals to take a 7-4 lead and held on the rest of the way. Max Meiseneheimer accounted for seven of DP's 12 goals and picked up three steals along the way. Dan Magrino scored twice and assisted on five goals with Jake Meisenheimer, Alex Kaiser and James Sweet collecting a goal apiece. Senior Tyler Haugh turned in a gutsy performance given the circumstances and finished the night with seven saves, two assists and a steal. DP (14-3) will now travel to Chicago for the Dan Lynch Classic at Fenwick HS. They'll take on Curie HS Friday afternoon with a possible evening matchup against Stevenson HS, ranked number one in Illinois.
